Learn By Doing
Aikido is available for children and teens from 7-15yrs old. The training is mainly based on Aikido, self defence and exercises to get fitter, stronger and more skilful in martial arts. The classes are focused and enjoyable with the teens working with each other.
Aikido is the perfect martial art for young people and influences them positively and creatively while making new friends.

Archway Aikido is a part of Aikido of London, a professional Japanese martial arts school in north London. Aikido classes for kids are taught differently than adults and need qualified teachers who are familiar with children. Aikido training has so much to offer children as young as 7 – 15 years old. Older children and young teens can join in with the adults. We are committed to teaching Martial Arts of Aikido to children. We are based in Archway North London and currently offer Saturday classes from 11am-12pm. There are plans for weekday Aikido classes for children allowing kids even more regular training.
Why Aikido Classes for children?
Children need to move and keep active, it is their most natural state of being. The physical and mental aspects of Aikido training are not separate, they come as a whole which gives children a balanced and healthy way to train. This a characteristic of the Japanese Martial Arts where the kids develop a healthy and strong body. Aikido martial arts for children are not competitive. We are not against competition but there is more than enough out there. We instead offer a way of training that is non-competitive but still motivates and excites the children.
Aikido for kids have many benefits:
- Improved physical coordination
- Flexibility and strength
- Mental and physical co-ordination
- Improved focus
- Improve concentration and discipline
- It is enjoyable and exciting
- You work with other children
Japanese martial arts are more than self-defence. Children learn martial skills that can be useful but it is above all self awareness and self development that is emphasised at Archway Aikido.
